Correspondent Don Young, whom Trump had hoped to remove, is dead – Indy News

Republican Republican Don Young, 88, the longest-serving member of the current Congress in Alaska, has died after 48 years in office.

The dean of the House, and its oldest member, died while traveling in his home state of Alaska.

“It is with heavy heart and deep sorrow that we announce that Congressman Don Young (R-AK), the Dean of the House and honorary champion for Alaska, has died today while traveling home in Alaska to live with the state and people he loved.” His beloved wife Ann was by his side, “said a statement from his office.

Young has been in Alaska since 1973, when he won a special election after the disappearance of Congressman Nick Begich, who was pronounced dead earlier that year.

Following Young’s decision to support Biden’s infrastructure bill, President Trump issued a statement in December urging Young to be nominated by America’s First Candidate.

According to Alaska Congressman Don Young, the dean of the House, friends, former staff and relatives have died.

No matter how you feel about his policies, liberals have already come out forcibly to celebrate the death of another Republican:

I just told my Alaskan husband (who doesn’t use Twitter). He said happily, “Finally! I need to text my parents! ” pic.twitter.com/wHYlPtTPvF
