Rain is expected on both Friday and Saturday, high winds are possible – Indy News

Statewide-Severe weather is possible for most of Central and South Indiana throughout Friday and Saturday.

“The chances of rain in Indianapolis are about 90%. As you move closer to the Ohio River, some of the low-lying areas are at low risk for severe weather. Said Jason Puma, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service.

Central Indiana is under a “marginal risk” for severe weather, which could mean isolated severe storms, with isolated gusts of wind, small hailstorms and the threat of a tornado. The far south of Indiana is under a “slight risk”. Slight risk increases with the possibility of more storms being reported.

The rain will continue in phases throughout the day on Friday, but it will not stop there.

“We will also have rainy days on Saturday. A low pressure system is running through the area, which means the possibility of rain will continue. However, the system will leave the area on Saturday night. We’re supposed to end the weekend on a dry, but cool note, ”Puma said.

He expects high temperatures in most parts of Indiana to be in the 60’s on Sunday.

“Most people don’t want to go back to work on Mondays because it will be in the 70’s in most places with high sunny skies. Then we will see the possibility of rain in the middle of next week. Get ready for some spring showers, ”Puma said.
